Some of you may have never heard of Oman before today, but don’t let that deter you from seeing the beauty it has to offer. With our newest Oman tour guide on board and the ALLMYNE app in your pocket, you will soon be on your way to this beautiful country in the Middle East.
But first, let’s meet Ahmed!
Ahmed La Rasib was born and raised in Oman. He’s been an Oman tour guide there for 10 years! After doing tours in English, he learned Italian.
“Being an Oman tour guide is a passion,” Ahmed says, “and I am so proud to show the tourists what my amazing country and the Arabian world is like! I want to show people the hospitality of Omani people and how beautiful the country is.”
When asked why people should come and visit Oman, he said, “The food and all the love there. I have very beautiful memories in Oman, but the best of them involves nature and the smiles of my clients.”
Now, in case that glowing review hasn’t convinced you to check out what Oman has in store, let’s take a look at some highlights of what a week-long itinerary with Ahmed looks like on the ALLMYNE app.
You Are Now Arriving in Muscat
Once you’ve touched down in Muscat and been driven back to the hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, you have the evening and the following day to explore Muscat at your own pace.
Described as a “unique blend of the ancient and the modern,” Muscat is the capital of Oman.
Day three is when you’ll meet up with your Oman tour guide.
From there, you will be led throughout the beautiful city, making stops in both new Muscat and old Muscat.
With a plateful of cultural marvels like the Grand Mosque and the Royal Opera House, you will want to make sure you save room on your phone for photos—especially so you can save them in your ALLMYNE journal!
You will also make an enchanting stop in the fishing village of Sidab with your Oman tour guide.
There, you can find plenty of handcrafted souvenirs to bring home with you. With a delicious dinner awaiting you back at the hotel, you’ll have plenty to talk about from the day’s adventures alone.
Off to Nizwa
On day four, you’ll be journeying from Muscat to Nizwa, one of the oldest cities in Oman. On the way, you’ll see forts, castles, towers, and city walls galore, all painting portraits of history and culture through remarkable architecture.
A specific fort you’ll want to check out is the Bahla Fort, which is a UN World Heritage Site!
From Bahla, you’ll head to the Jabreen castle, which is lauded as one of the finest in Oman. The castle’s dungeons and beautifully carved doors are just a few of the breathtaking things you’ll see there.
Your Oman tour guide will take you to the farming community of Wadi Ghul, and you will arrive at Al Hamra, a village of 400-year-old mud houses. The falaj watering system and agriculture alone are enough to fascinate you.
For the next day, you will have the diverse landscape of Nizwa at your fingertips. Make sure you stop at the Nizwa souq for the intricate silver jewelry they’re famous for!
On your journey to the middle of Oman, you will experience Oman’s arid lands, verdant wadis, and oasis villages. Once at the Wahiba Sands, you will officially be among the approximately 3,000 pastoralist Bedouins belonging to different tribes.
The sunset on the dunes makes for a beautiful ambience for your dinner at the desert camp – and Ahmed, your fantastic Oman tour guide, will know the best spots.
Welcome to Sur
Your morning on day six allows you to explore the dunes on foot or just watch their shifting colors.
You’ll have the opportunity to also go for camel rides and see Bedouin people. On your way to Sur, where your Oman tour guide will give you the following options:
- Visiting Ayja, a small village along the sea
- Seeing the glorious seaside mansions
- Taking a picture by the Wadi Bani Khalid
Your evening ends with a turtle-watching tour following a dinner at your hotel in Sur.
The last day of your adventure in Oman brings you full circle, back around to Muscat. You’ll see a lot of wadis and even visit the ruins of Qalhat, an old seaport in Oman. There is also an optional hike offered for those who are up for it! Your final stop before your Oman tour guide bids you farewell is to the Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater.
