Greece is an ancient realm that’s located in the juxtaposition of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. It’s in a unique position both geographically and culturally. Thus, it doesn’t matter if you like great cuisine, historic sites, or natural attractions, Greece has a little something for everyone. Think we’re wrong? Read on for just a few of our favorite Greek highlights!

#1. History

Do you love ancient history and mythology? If so, you’re in for a treat when it comes to Greece. Athens is undoubtedly a hotspot for historic sites. However, you could also plan to visit Meteora and Ancient Delphi if you wanted to go beyond the capital’s landmarks. The Meteora monasteries in Kastraki are a UNESCO World Heritage Site; plus the natural stone pillars surrounding this magnificent attraction give it an out-of-this-world touch. Ancient Delphi was known as the center of Earth to the ancient Greek civilizations. Today, it’s one of the most well-known attractions that features a pristine citadel.

As a traveler, it’s good to take each experience as a chance to learn about the local culture. This can help you adapt to any nuances and also stop you from making suggestions that may seem condescending. Make sure to keep an open mind, ask questions for informative purposes only, and be kind to people who want to be genuinely helpful.

#2. City Life, Food, and Daytime Activities

Once in Greece, you’ll notice that the food is delicious, the weather is fantastic, and the overall feel throughout the country is simply vibrant. Many travelers love to visit the open-air markets and local plazas in the numerous Greek cities in order to soak up the culture in its purest form. Athens Patras, Thessaloniki, and Piraeus are all big bustling cities, but there is no doubt that Athens is the best place to experience metropolitan life in Greece. In addition to having direct international flights, Athens also offers all types of accommodation throughout the different neighborhoods in the city.

#3. Relaxation Galore!

If you want to relax, soak up the sun, or even perfect your tan, then Greece is the place to be. Greece has thousands of islands located in the Mediterranean and saying that all of them offer a great option for a relaxing holiday is no exaggeration. Santorini, Paros, Crete—it doesn’t matter the island! As long as you go during the hotter months, you’ll be able to do as much beaching as your body can handle.

#4. Nightlife and Entertainment

From birthdays to bachelor parties and everywhere in between, Greece offers the perfect opportunity to celebrate your next big milestone. There are dozens upon dozens of great options here, some of which have already appeared on our list (We’re looking your way, Santorini!), but we’ll keep it simple and focus on the crown jewel. Mykonos is a small island, but it packs a lot of punch when it comes to nightlife and entertainment. Known for its restaurants, bars, and world-class clubs, staying up late, enjoying drinks, and living a blissful life are all common practices on this breathtaking island.

#5. Natural Wonders

Greece is known best for its pristine beaches. But, this is not the only natural wonder that’s impressive enough to merit a trip across the world. Rather than trying to visit all the natural attractions scattered throughout Greece, our advice is to focus on a place that has an abundance of green wonders. A great option would be Thessaloniki, which is surrounded by natural reserves, forests, mountains, and of course, the Mediterranean.
